How do we check if you're available for our date?

Through our contact form. We don't publish a live availability calendar because dates occasionally open up due to rescheduled weddings, and we want to give every inquiry a proper personal response rather than an automated yes/no. Share your date and we'll confirm availability — usually within one business day.

Question 3

How quickly do you reply after we reach out?

Accepted Answer

We commit to a response within two business days for every inquiry. In practice, most couples hear from us the same day or the following morning. If you've reached out and haven't received a reply after two full business days, please check your spam folder — our emails occasionally land there — and try again.

What information should we have ready before reaching out?

Accepted Answer

The most useful things are: your wedding date, your venue (or your top two or three options), an approximate guest count, and a rough sense of how many hours of coverage you're thinking about. You don't need to have everything decided — many couples reach out while still choosing between venues. The more specific you are, the more tailored our response can be, but we're happy to work from very early-stage plans.

How much does Visionari wedding photography cost?

Our packages start at $1,250. Every wedding is built differently — a two-hour ceremony-only package and a full ten-hour day with two cinematographers are priced very differently — so we don't publish a fixed menu. Once we understand your date, your venue, and your coverage needs, we send a detailed proposal within two business days. We don't believe in pricing surprises, so everything is laid out clearly before you commit to anything.

What's included in every package?

Every Visionari package includes two photographers for the full duration of coverage, all fully color-corrected images delivered in high-resolution JPEG, an online gallery for you and your guests, a copyright and print release for all edited images, and a personalized wedding day website. We do not charge separately for editing, online delivery, or the copyright release — those are part of what you're hiring us for.

Are there hidden fees we should know about — overtime, travel, anything else?

No hidden fees. Inter-island travel (if your wedding is on Maui, Kauai, or the Big Island) is quoted separately and transparently as part of your proposal — flights, accommodation if required, and any applicable travel day coverage. For Oahu weddings, there are no travel fees. Overtime, if your day runs long, is discussed in advance so there are no surprises on your invoice.

How would you describe your photography style?

A blend of fine-art portraiture and photojournalism — editorial when we need to be, invisible when we don't. We direct portraits with intention, but we photograph the rest of your day the way a documentary filmmaker would: watching, anticipating, and capturing what's actually happening rather than staging it. The result is a gallery that feels like a truthful, beautifully lit narrative of your day — not a collection of posed moments.

Why should we choose Visionari over another Hawaii photographer?

A few things genuinely set us apart: we've been photographing Hawaii weddings for nearly two decades, which means we know the venues, the light, the vendors, and the logistics in ways a newer studio can't replicate. Every package includes two photographers — you're getting dual coverage as standard, not as a premium add-on. Our team is local, which means we can meet you in person, visit your venue before your day, and be there in person for questions throughout your planning. And our style is specific — we're not going to deliver a generic gallery that could have been shot anywhere.

Do you edit every photo the same way?

Every image we deliver is individually color-corrected and edited to our house style — warm, film-influenced, true to how the scene actually looked. We don't mass-apply a preset and call it done. Light, skin tone, and environment all affect how each image is treated. The consistency you see across our portfolio comes from a consistent approach, not a blanket filter.

Can we request a specific editing style — moody, bright, etc.?

Our editing style is intentional and part of what you're hiring. That said, if you have a strong preference — lighter and airy, cooler tones, more contrasty — share reference images when you reach out and we'll be honest about whether it's a natural fit. We'd rather have that conversation early than deliver a gallery that doesn't match your expectations.

Do you deliver black-and-white photos?

Yes. We select images throughout your gallery that we feel work especially well in black and white — typically intimate moments, speeches, candid emotion — and deliver both the color and B&W versions. We don't convert everything to black and white, but it's a meaningful part of every gallery.

What happens if the weather is bad on our wedding day?

Hawaii weather is famously dynamic, and nineteen years of working here has taught us to treat it as a creative element rather than an obstacle. Overcast skies produce softer, more even light — often more flattering for portraits than harsh midday sun. Passing showers can add drama and intimacy that no studio could manufacture. We adapt in real time, know the covered locations at every venue we work with, and will never ask you to stand in the rain for a shot that doesn't serve the image. We have photographed beautiful weddings in every weather condition Hawaii produces.

How does a typical wedding day run from a photography standpoint?

We arrive before the first covered moment — usually preparations — and stay through the first dance or reception. One photographer typically stays close to the couple and ceremony; the other covers wider context, guests, and detail shots. Throughout the day we maintain a loose schedule for portraits: we'll flag a 10–15 minute window for just the two of you during cocktail hour, and plan the golden-hour portraits (the 45 minutes before sunset) in advance based on your venue. We communicate directly with your planner or coordinator so nothing catches anyone off guard.

Can our families give you a specific shot list for formal portraits?

Yes — a formals list is both expected and useful. We recommend keeping it focused (10–15 combinations of immediate family is a reasonable target) so we can move efficiently and leave room for the organic moments. Share the list before your wedding day and we'll build the timing for it into your portrait schedule. What we don't work from is a shot-by-shot list for candid or documentary coverage — that's where our judgment comes in.

What if we're running behind schedule on our wedding day?

It happens at almost every wedding — and we plan for it. We build buffer into our portrait timelines and communicate any slippage to you and your coordinator as the day unfolds. If coverage is at risk of running short, we'll flag it clearly so you can make a decision about extending. We never quietly disappear at the contracted end time without a conversation.

What should we wear for our wedding portraits?

Your wedding attire, first and foremost — that's what most portrait time is built around. For an engagement session, the most useful advice is to choose something you'd genuinely wear and feel comfortable in. Avoid busy patterns and large logos, which compete with your faces. Coordinated (not matching) colors tend to photograph better than identical outfits. If you're unsure, bring two options and we'll help you choose on the day.

How do we prepare for our portrait session?

The most important thing is to arrive relaxed. The portraits that look best are the ones where you're not thinking about the camera — and part of our job is making sure you forget it's there. Beyond that: have your timeline confirmed with your planner so there's a protected portrait window, brief any family members needed for formals in advance so we're not hunting people down, and let us know beforehand about any mobility considerations or specific moments that matter to you.

What is the best time of day for portraits in Hawaii?

Golden hour — the 45 minutes before sunset — is the most iconic window. On Oahu, sunset falls between roughly 6:00 and 7:00 PM depending on the season, and the warm, directional light in that final hour gives Hawaii weddings their most recognisable look. Early morning, within two hours of sunrise, offers equally beautiful light and the bonus of uncrowded venues and beaches. Midday light in Hawaii is harsh and unflattering — we work around it rather than with it.

How and when exactly do we receive our photos?

Your complete gallery is delivered as a curated personal website within 6 weeks of your wedding date. You'll receive a private link by email — no app to download, no account required. From there, you can browse every image at full resolution, download individual images or the entire gallery as a zip file, and share a password-protected link with family and friends. The gallery stays live indefinitely.

Question 23

How many photos will we receive?

A full wedding day (8–10 hours) typically yields 600–900 fully edited, high-resolution images. We don't set a cap and we don't pad to hit a number — every image in your gallery cleared our editorial standard. Shorter coverage produces proportionally fewer images. The 600–900 range is a genuine average across hundreds of weddings, not a floor or a guarantee.

Do we own the copyright to our photos? Can we print them anywhere?

Accepted Answer

Yes. Every package includes a full copyright and print release for all edited images. You can print at any lab, share freely on social media, use images for personal stationery, or do anything else you'd like. The only thing the copyright release doesn't cover is commercial resale or licensing your images to a third party — but for personal use, they're yours completely.

Can we get the unedited raw files?

We don't deliver raw files. Our editing is an inseparable part of what we produce — the final gallery is the work, not the unprocessed captures. If there's a specific image you feel needs a different edit, reach out and we'll revisit it.

Can we order a printed album through Visionari?

Accepted Answer

Yes. A 10×10 linen-bound fine-art heirloom album, designed by our studio, is available as an optional add-on. We handle the curation and design — you review and approve before it goes to print. Pricing is available on request.

Question 27

Do you travel to Maui, Kauai, or the Big Island?

Accepted Answer

Yes — regularly. While our studio is based in Honolulu, our team photographs weddings across all four major Hawaiian islands. Inter-island travel fees apply and are included transparently in your proposal: flights, accommodation where required, and any additional time. We've worked extensively with venues and planners on each island, so a Maui or Kauai wedding doesn't mean starting from scratch.

Do you travel for international destination weddings?

Yes. Our team has experience with destination weddings in Japan and internationally. International travel is quoted on a per-wedding basis — reach out with your location and date and we'll put together a detailed breakdown. We're not a studio that occasionally travels; destination work is a meaningful part of what we do.

We're having a small ceremony with just 10 guests — is that too intimate for Visionari?

Accepted Answer

Not at all. Some of our favourite work comes from elopements and micro-weddings, where the intimacy of the day gives us more time and creative freedom with the two of you. Our packages scale to the coverage your day actually needs — a small ceremony doesn't require a full-day package.

Question 30

Do you offer videography / cinema as well as photography?

Accepted Answer

Yes. Visionari photographs and films weddings. Our cinematographers work alongside our photographers on the same timeline and with the same creative direction — there's no friction between two separate companies trying to coordinate. The cinema add-on produces a 3–5 minute cinematic highlight. It can be booked alongside any photography package, or as a standalone. Pricing is available on request.

Do you offer engagement sessions?

Yes. Engagement sessions are available as an optional add-on: a 1–2 hour portrait session anywhere on Oahu. It's a genuinely useful way to get comfortable working with us before your wedding day — the couples who've done an engagement session almost always say their wedding portraits went more naturally because of it.

What other add-ons are available?

Beyond the cinema add-on and engagement session, we offer rehearsal dinner coverage (up to 2 additional hours the evening before your wedding) and the linen-bound fine-art heirloom album described above. Everything is optional and itemized in your proposal — nothing is bundled in without your knowledge.

What's your policy if our wedding is postponed or rescheduled?

Please contact us as soon as you know — the sooner we hear, the more options we have. We work with couples on rescheduled weddings wherever our calendar allows, and we always approach these situations with flexibility rather than rigidity. The specifics — how deposits are applied, what happens if the new date is unavailable — are covered in our contract and we're happy to walk through them before you book.

How far in advance should we book?

For peak Oahu dates (Saturday, May–October) at premier venues like Halekulani or The Kahala, we recommend booking 12–18 months in advance. Those dates fill early, and we take on a limited number of weddings each year intentionally. Weekday dates, off-season dates, and smaller venues are often available with 6–9 months' notice. If your date is approaching, reach out anyway — availability sometimes opens.

Do you limit how many weddings you take each year?

Yes, deliberately. We accept a limited number of commissions each year so that every couple receives our full attention — not a stretched team working a different wedding every weekend. That's a real constraint, which is why we recommend reaching out early, but it's also the reason our work stays consistent.
